Endless.com totally kicks ass – amazon’s new shoe site. The photo zoom feature is out of the world. Just ordered a pair of Saucony Trigon Grid 4 – my favorite running shoe :)

Architecture of Happiness

This book is by Alain de Botton. Discusses the primitives of how different architectures evoke different emotions. I found it very interesting. The writing is a bit too flowery and detailed for my liking, but perhaps apt for the material.  I found one interesting quote in it: “You think philosophy is difficult, but I tell you its nothing compared to the difficulty of being an architect”, said by Ludwig Wittgenstein after he tried building a house for his sister.

obesity and overweight statistics

I came across this astounding statistic on an article that was not primarily about health:

Fully 87% of all firefighters, 73% of American health-care workers and 91% of those in law enforcement are overweight or obese, according to NIOSH (National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health).

The article itself is about respirators and how it is becoming a problem to find suitable people to test them because there is some much diversity in the workplace, its hard to get an “average” fact to test the respirators on.
